Cedric Lenox of Panama City, Florida is living proof that determination can produce extraordinary results. Mr. Lenox graduated from Ashford University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with an Education concentration. He currently teaches Social Studies for grades 6-12 at Panama City Marine Amikids in Panama City, Florida.
Mr. Lenox credits his middle school English and History teacher Mrs. Wisdhal with guiding him toward a successful future. Labeled “at-risk” as a youth, a counselor told him he would never go to college and graduate. Fortunately, Mrs. Wisdhal saw the potential in all her students. She encouraged a young Mr. Lenox to achieve his dreams with hard work and determination. While his journey was not always easy, he never forgot that his teacher believed in him.
Today, Mr. Lenox strives to be the same champion for his students. His professional career has been dedicated to working with at-risk adolescents. He has taught in dropout prevention programs in South Florida for the last few years and published an inspirational article in IN Teen Magazine. In “Say Yes to Your Dreams,” Mr. Lenox addresses drug use among adolescents and encourages young people to instead pursue their dreams of success.
Mr. Lenox plans to continue his education and earn a graduate degree in social work and counseling to enrich his expertise in working with at-risk youth. In his free time, Mr. Lenox enjoys dancing, traveling, going to the beach and visiting Ron Clark Academy Teacher Conferences.
